Stella Ang Kar Hee

Intermediate Level :
Abacus (Grade 11);
Mental (Grade 11)
Start Date: 19/06/2022

Stella used to struggle with staying focused and was not interested in Maths, as she found it challenging to understand the principles of numbers and calculation. As concerned parents, we were looking for a solution to help our child overcome these difficulties and gain confidence in Maths.

Since joining CMA, we have seen a remarkable transformation in Stella’s ability to focus and her understanding of Maths concepts. The unique approach to learning that CMA provides, which emphasizes mental Maths, has been instrumental in helping our child develop a deeper understanding of the principles behind counting and numbers.

Janis Chan

Janis Chan Shi Qi

Intermediate Level :
Abacus (Grade 12);
Mental (Grade 11)
Start Date: 19/09/2021

We were home coaching some numeracy concepts and basic addition & subtraction but her attention span and learning curve was not improving much.

In this programme, abacus usage and mental arithmetic are the core focus to guide students to firm up their foundation in arithmetic, we decided to let her try out a few terms.

She was able to understand numeracy concepts at a deeper level and started to build a rooted confidence when computing numbers in addition, subtraction and recently multiplication. Her math interests grew exponentially as she sees numbers which can be apply everywhere, such as getting the correct change when purchasing, computing number of people entering/exiting a lift or number patterning. We believe the CMA programme will give her a sound foundation when she begins STEM subjects later in life.

The coaching methodology wasn’t giving our child a sandboxed route learning but learning by her own pace which is more based on understanding a concept before moving forward. The teachers would practice co-coaching initiatives, guiding parents to play an active role in post-lesson homework as well.

Start Date: 15/01/2022

Aden had always struggled with grasping the concept of maths calculation. Despite our efforts, we found it difficult to teach him and make him understand how calculations work. We knew that mental calculation could aid in his brain development and help him excel in maths as he advanced to primary school. It was a relief to see Aden making progress with the help of the formulas taught to him by the dedicated teachers at CMA Yishun.

Under the guidance of Teachers Toh and Oon, Aden can now do calculations independently. He has also been able to remember the times table, which he previously refused to learn.

As parents, we are very satisfied with the progress Aden has made and grateful for the patience and guidance provided by the teachers at CMA Yishun. Their approach to teaching and their ability to guide us on how we can further support Aden’s development at home has been invaluable.

Jayden Ng

Advanced Level :
Abacus (Grade 7);
Mental (Dan)
Start Date: 27/12/2019

When my first child joined CMA in 2011, it was not so well known and the concept was new. I was amazed with their students being able to do sums at lightning speed during a roadshow. As such I decided to try it out even though it meant that i had to travel to Yishun every week for class.

I chose CMA because of the positive results that I see in our two older children. The teachers are very patient in guiding and teaching the different concepts in abacus formulae.

I can see that my children like maths and calculate numbers easily. They are able to focus and finish the questions within a stipulated timing. They are also more confident in tackling big numbers in multiplication and division. The easy to sing along songs makies remembering the timetable and formulae easy.

It has been a memorable experience with all the teachers. I have seen the centre grown from a small centre in Chong Pang to what it is today with many branches around the island but with the same dedication from the teachers.

Nathan Cheung, CMA's 2021 Superstar and Ambassador

My son, Nathan joined CMA Punggol at the age of 6. He attended a trial class conducted by CMA Punggol and found the lesson very interesting. It has been 3 years since Nathan started his journey with CMA and there are no regrets as he has benefitted much from the lessons.

I have also observed that Nathan’s memory and ability to do aural mental has improved tremendously. The skills learnt in CMA not only improves a child’s number skills, but also builds up the child’s confidence, focus and determination. It is amazing to see a child persevere to get the correct calculation at lightning speed with numbers that go into the millions! We are extremely thankful to all the teachers in CMA Punggol, especially Teacher Ong and Teacher Avelina for their professional guidance and dedication. THANK YOU, CMA!

Evelyn Tan

Way is someone who is not mathematically inclined so it has always been a struggle for him to keep up to the speed of the yearly syllabus.

He is now scoring better with accuracy and with that comes along speed, which helps him do more in lesser time. Another area of improvement is the fluidity in mathematical thinking, which many would call ‘number sense’; he can now calculate with more approaches rather than one. Overall, this has boosted his confidence and helps him see that Maths is not so tough that it can’t be overcome at all! Thank you CMA for giving me my child that extra ‘push’ to help him feel more confident in Maths!

Wayne Bey

Start Date : 30/3/2011

Hi everyone, my name is Wayne, and I am 14 years old. I have been in CMA for more than 5 years since I enrolled.
CMA has indeed help me a lot in my school and daily life. ln school, it has allowed me to calculate sums of large numbers while solving equations mentally without the use of a calculator. This special skill allows me to solve problems quickly and accurately. On top of that with the skills I learnt in CMA, I could also calculate the cost of products in shops to check if the product is worth buying in a quick manner by having a quick glance at the price tag.

CMA not only help me in my studies but also helped me in my attitude towards my studies. Teachers in CMA (Jurong East Central) centre would always encourage their students when they are faced with difficulties. Teachers and staff in the centre also taught us to be polite, to have gratitude towards others and educate us on the appropriate things to do. This teaching of character values has benefitted me a lot. It allows me to be a better person in all I do and thus I can complete things more effectively and efficiently.

I have benefitted a lot from CMA, both on academics and character. With the training I have in CMA, it has taught me to focus better when I am studying. Next, as CMA also focus on the character of the students, they would teach us to be polite, caring for one another and have a positive attitude in studying. I can say that this has benefited me a lot as these two words “Please’ and “Thank You” have become a routine for me soon after I enrolled in CMA (Jurong East Central) Centre.

My journey in CMA was quite bumpy as my progress was quite slow back then. I would always try to finish all my CMA homework and never wanted to give up. But as time passes by, the questions I received got harder and harder making it hard to solve, causing me to have the temptation to give up. But soon, I realised CMA is fun and calculating equations are exciting and I enjoyed it. Therefore, I would always strive my best in completing all task/homework given to me in school or in CMA. During my journey in CMA, I realised that everything can be done in an enjoyable manner as long as we have the right attitude in learning.
Many may wonder why at my age I am still learning in CMA as mental calculation is not needed in secondary school. The reason why I am still willing to preserve in CMA is that the curriculum in CMA has benefited me tremendously and age is not an issue when it comes to learning and growth. I want to run the race and complete the race by obtaining my Dan level (which is the final level in CMA). I do not want to give up something that has benefited me. With perseverance and determination, I will come in victory. Because I want to better enhance my brain ability, I will work hard in achieving my goal despite my busy schedule in secondary school. With good time management and the support from my parents and my teachers in CMA, I will press on.
CMA has indeed benefitted me in many ways, and I am very grateful to the teachers who have helped me through this journey. Thank you, teachers, for nurturing me, watching over me and encouraging me. From being little, I will be great!

Justin Ang

Start Date : 14/3/2009

Hello, my name is Justin, and I am 15 this year. It has been many years since I went to my first CMA lesson back in early 2013. I have grown a lot both physically and mentally since then and I like to think that CMA played a huge part in this.
Back when I was in primary school, I attended lessons weekly. I was able to train and improve my thinking and reaction skills which helped me tremendously with my schoolwork, especially mathematics. I recall that my mathematics was always quite good, and I used to get A*. I think this would have never be possible without the help of CMA. Furthermore, as my thinking skills developed, it indirectly helped me in other subjects such as Science. It might be a common stereotype that since CMA only trains you in your mental sums, it will only help you in your mathematics. However, as you can see here, this is not the case and CMA is more than just that.
CMA does not just help you academically, it also helps in your overall holistic development whether directly or indirectly. For example, through CMA I was able to gain better understanding of the values like perseverance and discipline. How does CMA train discipline? Teachers in CMA give out homework to students and to finish not only your normal school homework but also your CMA homework within the given deadline. It takes a lot of discipline to ensure that you finish all the homework as soon as possible without losing much focus, which was what I learnt after doing this for the past few years.
Moving on to perseverance. Nobody likes it when they are wrong. So, I definitely want no mistakes while doing my work. However, it is inevitable that I will get some questions wrong and will feel discouraged especially when on days where I get multiple questions wrong. As a result, I have to do multiple corrections. These are the times I felt like throwing in the towel and say, “I quit.” However, I did not do so and instead, put in more effort in persevering on and completed my work well. Until today, these 2 values along with many other things that CMA has taught me have proved to be very useful and meaningful. I am grateful that CMA has allowed me to learn all of these.
Currently, I am studying in secondary school, but I still attend CMA classes. Why do I still attend CMA classes? I continue to attend classes to continue improving myself. I have achieved Grade 1 in Mental Arithmetic and Grade 3 in Abacus Arithmetic and there is definitely more than enough room for improvement. I believe that if I continue my journey in CMA, my future will look bright and I will be able to accomplish more in striving to be better and have a greater sense of achievement in all that I do.
Before I end this testimonial, I would like to thank all the CMA Jurong East Central teachers that have taught me. Without them, I would not have become who I am today. I would also like to thank CMA for giving me many opportunities to showcase my skills and what I have learnt throughout these many years.

Ethan Wong

Hi! My name is Ethan Wong. I have been attending CMA classes since the age of five. I am currently in Secondary One. I was attending Primary Six in ChongFu School sat for my PSLE (Primary School Leaving Examination) in year 2019. It was definitely a stressful year, with PSLE around the corner and the amount of homework and revision I had to do every day in order to be well prepared for the examination. So, most of you would probably be wondering, why would I still want to attend CMA when I can stay at home and do my revision. Well, here’s why.
Firstly, CMA acts like a form of revision for me. Every week when I attend CMA classes, I do multiple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division sums. It makes me more familiar and confident in my ability to do mental calculations without the use of a calculator. It allows me to recap what I have done previously over and over again to make sure I am really familiar with the different formulas. Especially since Mathematics Paper 1 does not allow the use of the calculator, I am able to use my mental calculating abilities to solve equations more quickly and efficiently with higher accuracy which gives me advantage over my fellow schoolmates. That is why I was able to get A* for Mathematics in PSLE last year.
Secondly, I see CMA as a way for me to de-stress. Since I have to cope with piles and piles of homework and do so much revision, it actually makes me relatively anxious and tense. Attending CMA classes gives me an avenue to break from all my school homework and revision and do something that I truly like and enjoy. I find the classroom environment very friendly, fun and conducive for learning so it is always a joy to go to CMA.
That is all I have to say about CMA. I hope that you would be encouraged to sign up for CMA classes after reading this. Once again, thank you CMA for guiding me through the last seven years of my life and for having so much faith in me and giving me so much support.
My sincere thanks to all the teachers who have assisted and guided me throughout my learning process.

Nishka Palil/ Hardik Palil

I am Vishakha, parent of Nishka and Hardik who have been learning Abacus @ CMA, Yishun (Chongpang Centre) for over 6 years. I am fully satisfied and happy throughout the learning journey. Starting with the teaching patterns, CMA Abacus follows very systematic pattern of learning/ teaching Abacus. They also regularly monitor the progress of each and every child individually. All the teachers who have taught my both kids are highly qualified for teaching Abacus. They are very well qualified for teaching Abacus. They are very well trained not just to teach abacus to kids. But also to always encourage them to progress continuously. The teachers have immense patience while handling kids who get stuck during the class or even while doing homework. Really appreciate their hard work and efforts!!! It is also very impressive the way they regularly update parents about the kids’ progress. They also provide help and tips to encourage kids to do well and more at home too. Most importantly my kids always come out smiling from the CMA class.
Coming to the front desk, the staff is very friendly and welcoming whether it’s at the reception counter or even over the phone. The staff is always very cooperative whenever we approach them and very efficient to handle each and every query. Most appreciating part is the International Olympiad which is held once every year. The way the Olympiad is managed is worth appreciating. The whole event is so systematically planned. No chaos, no confusion, no mistakes. The kids and parents are arranged in such a way. Hats off to all the staff, teachers and managements for running the event so smoothly for so many years.
Overall very satisfied with CMA, especially our Yishun Branch. I will strongly recommend to all my friends to enrol their kids to CMA Abacus. I have referred many kids for the same in the past years and will keep doing the same in the future too. As Abacus not only help my kids in maths but also to focus and concentrate more. All my best wishes to CMA Singapore!!!

I came to know about Yishun CMA in 2012, when my child was in P1. Initially I wanted to give a try for him to increase his focus and concentrate more while solving math. Fortunately he enjoyed the class and picked up the formula. And I would say CMA helped him a lot for PSLEs what he is today. He is still continuing CMA and is in DAN Level now. It’s been a long 7 years. And now my younger son is in CMA also for 2 years. He is in P1 now. Although he is struggling now to do CMA homework, I hope day will come when he will enjoy CMA like his brother. I would like to thank the teachers and all the staffs in Yishun Centre who are very kind & friendly. The teachers show a lot of patience while teaching. I would definitely recommend other parents. Wishing good luck to all the teachers and staffs. And big THANKS to all of you to guide our children in doing well in math consistently.

Jaynesh needed some attention and focus. I tried a multiple approach and wanted to give mental calculation some try. He still isn’t there 100%, but he can now sit and do his work for more than 30 minutes, (which was a difficult task when he started primary school). He is able to calculate faster even doing the normal method in school. He still has much improvement to do. But I am happy with his progress slowly but surely.

Luong Gia Hao & Mother, Moon

Advanced Level : Abacus
(Grade 8); Mental (Grade 7)
Start Date : 2/2/2018

Interviewer: Gia Hao, what do you like most about CMA?
Gia Hao: I love the aural mental exercises – they are so fun and easy! Sometimes I get to 2 digits 7 numbers and I can still handle that. But 2 digits 8 numbers starts to get tough. However, I am sure I can tackle that one day!
Interviewer: Moon, Gia Hao seems to be enjoying his time at CMA. Do you agree?
Moon: Yes, definitely. I sent him to a Chinese tuition centre last year, and he refused to continue after only
1 month. We tried persuading him, even forcing him, but he was adamant about stopping and even cried, to indicate his displeasure. Finally, we had to stop the lessons there after one month even though it meant forfeiting a lot of tuition fees paid upfront.
Conversely, when we sent him here for Mental Arithmetic classes, he has so much fun and even makes it a point to attend make-up class when we have to miss a class. Needless to say, he has not asked us to stop his sessions here at CMA.
Interviewer: It seems like Gia Hao really enjoys his lessons here. How about back home – is he conscientious with his CMA homework?
Moon: With his CMA homework, I usually don’t have to remind him to do it. In fact, he would often challenge his father and myself to see who could complete the questions faster. When he challenges me, I would use my traditional method, but when it comes to his dad, my husband would use the calculator. Nonetheless, Gia Hao is almost always the fastest!
Interviewer: Wow Gia Hao, sounds like you’re really good! Who has trained you so well at CMA? Can you tell us who your favourite teacher here at CMA Ang Mo Kio is?
Gia Hao: I like Teacher Lawrence! He writes our names on the board at every lesson, and gives us points for different reasons during the lessons. Sometimes when someone does not get any points during the lesson, he will award some points to that student at the end of the lesson! I think he is kind.
Interviewer: It’s great that you enjoy learning from Teacher Lawrence. I am sure he is proud of you too!
Gia Hao: I think he is, especially after I did so well at the National Grading Exams!
[**A check with the Centre Owner of CMA Ang Mo Kio , Eleanor Tan, confirmed that Gia Hao’s results for the recent National Grading Exams were: Ab Grade 9 – 100%, MA Grade 8 – 100%, Aural Mental 2D/4N – 3/3, full marks].
Moon: Gia Hao was very enthusiastic about his exams. He put in extra effort to prepare himself, and kept telling me he wanted to do well. On the day of the exam, he was very nervous, but I am glad he managed to do well.
This is one of the main reasons I sent him to CMA in the first place – to train him to handle such stressful situations. I believe that this training will also help him with his calculations in primary and secondary school. With this ability, he can then focus on thinking and problem solving skills. All of this will build up his confidence in Maths, all the way through his University education.
Interviewer: Certainly appears to be a very wise decision now. Congratulations on making that great decision 10 months ago, and also for the outstanding performance at the recent National Grading Exams. May your journey ahead with CMA continue to be filled with wonderful experiences and achievements!

Lee Jia Yee

Advanced Level : Abacus
(Grade 4); Mental (Grade 1)
Start Date : 3/1/2010

I am Lee Jia Yee, currently 19 years old. I have been with CMA since I was in Primary 4, and I would like to thank my mother for enrolling both my brother and myself in CMA. I have seen great changes in myself over the past 9 years in terms of my academic grades and character values. From a quiet and shy girl who lacked confidence due to the poor academic results I had in primary school, to an outspoken and confident girl who is proud of whatever she has been through and achieved. This transformation is partly due to CMA. This is the place I look forward to go to every week! Not only have I been a student here, I am also given the opportunity to work at the centre on weekdays and Sundays, through which I have gained much exposure and experience.
Honestly when I first started learning at CMA, I disliked having to complete my homework and doing the calculations. Later I was really inspired by children who were way younger than I was and yet, with abilities way beyond me. I was so amazed by how quickly they could calculate and that inspired me to achieve what they could. Although I am still not that quick at calculations, I have started to enjoy attending lessons at CMA. I feel that learning arithmetic mental calculation helps me focus better.
When I was preparing for examinations, I started to realise that I was able to memorise the different contents, even from the heavy humanity subjects, in a short period of time. This gave me more time to do more practice and revision, especially in Secondary school as there were many more subjects to handle. It gave me the capacity to memorise and also to grasp concepts swiftly.
In school, some of my friends were actually amazed at how quickly I could calculate, not just for simple but difficult sums as well. It was not just about how fast I could do it, but also the sensitivity I had for numbers and how I could remember things at a much faster speed and capacity compared to my peers.
Since then, my love and interest for numbers and mathematics has grown. I was impressed by what I could achieve and slowly became more confident in terms of academic results, given that I used to fail most of my subjects back in primary school. I was 1st in class for both Secondary 1 and 2 and top 3 in class for Secondary 3. I never imagined in my wildest dream that I could achieve all these without having any formal tuition. As I progressed, I even decided to take up Further Mathematics as one of my subjects in Junior College.
Many may wonder if CMA is still necessary for someone my age… all I can say is that I have learnt life skills here that I doubt I will ever forget. CMA has taught me the values of perseverance and resilience; to not give up when I face difficulties. As I work my way up to the higher grades in CMA, the questions do get more challenging and I have learnt not to give up even if I fail to get the correct answer at my first few attempts. As you know, practice makes perfect.
Nowadays, society requires us to complete as many tasks as we can with speed and accuracy, so time is a big factor too. Without the training I get in CMA, it is not quite possible to perform according to the demands of the world.
When I was having my internship at MOE Headquarters, I was tasked to sort e-resources or even transcribe stuff from hard to soft copy. I often received praises of “Wow, Jia Yee, you are really quick and accurate in your work performances!” They actually boosted my morale and gave me the confidence to excel even further. These praises really put a smile on my face and the first thing that came to mind was “CMA has taught me well!”
I am really grateful for all the awesome teachers I have! Teachers who have guided and taught with their hearts not just because it is their job! Special shout out to both Teacher Agnes and Teacher Yang who have been there throughout my learning journey, since the day I stepped into CMA. They have been extremely supportive and have always been very passionate about teaching, nurturing and bringing the best out of every student. As I dream and endeavour to become a teacher myself in the future, they are my role models and I aspire to be like them!
All in all, CMA has benefited me in many ways and made a tremendous impact in my life.
I hope I have not let both my parents and teachers down! Dan level here I come!

Tan Zhi Heng

Advanced Level : Abacus
(Grade 1); Mental (Grade 6)
Start Date : 25/10/2008

When did you first start learning mental arithmetic?
>> 11 years ago, and since Day 1, I have been learning at Marine Parade CMA
What keeps you learning for so long?
>> There is a constant desire to improve what I have started learning. Ever since I started with CMA, I have realized that my Maths is better than my peers. For example, during my PSLE prelim exams, I forgot to bring my calculator, but still managed to score full marks for my Paper 2 (where calculators are allowed).
In Secondary School, I can still breeze through some questions without using calculators, giving me more time to solve the questions.
I also noticed a significant improvement in my memory. As a Core History student, we have a lot to memorise but most of the time, I can handle it with ease. This applies to other subjects like Science as well.
What are your plans, since this is your O-level year?
>> I intend to continue until a few months before my O levels, to concentrate on my studies. But I will be back again after the exams! I am considering going for the Teacher Training Course and teaching part-time. At Marine Parade CMA of course!
There is a lot of room for improvement, in both my Mental and Abacus Dan levels. In Mental, I can try for Dan Level 10, and in Abacus, I can definitely reach higher than Dan Level 1, because once I improve my addition-subtraction, progressing should not be a problem.
How do you find your teachers at CMA?
>> I find them to be very encouraging and motivating. For example, one of my favourite teachers is Teacher Jovin. She does not give up on my, but patiently coaches me. Currently, I am tackling 7 digits 7 numbers for my aural mental. At such levels, it will take a few weeks or months to clear each new stage. Teacher Jovin encourages me to conscientiously complete all my CDs, and she even cites me as an example for younger learners to learn from! This greatly motivates me to do even better.
That sounds great! So do you have any advice for younger learners?
>> Yes, I’d ask them to enjoy their time at CMA. Remember that not everyone will get to learn abacus and mental arithmetic, so cherish this opportunity. The teachers won’t stress you out. If you put in the effort, you will get to my level or even surpass me one day. So do work hard and treasure your time here.

Leong Sau Man Wendy

Advanced Level : Abacus
(Grade 3); Mental (Grade 1)
Start Date : 29/1/2013

Interviewer: So, Wendy, what was different for you this year?
Wendy: Last year, the beads in my head were not clear. Bu t I persevered and in February this year, I suddenly had a breakthrough. While practicing, the beads started becoming very clear to me.
Interviewer: What advice do you have for someone trying to be a champion like you?
Wendy: You must practise, but do it smartly. For example, you need to practise at different speeds. Mum helps out with my Aural Mental practice. I get more motivated because Mum is involved – it shows she cares and is interested.

Interviewer: When the field of finalists was shortened from 30 to 10, what went through your mind?
Wendy: I was so shocked and happy. Then I was determined, aiming to be in the top 5. While on stage, I didn’t think about anything else, but focused on the tasks at hand.
Interviewer: Tel l us about the winning question, where you were the only one who got the right answer.
Wendy: That was a 5-digit 12-number question. I had only practised up to 5-digi t 10-numbers, but I realized that the question was fine, I could handle it. I was actually more surprised that I got it right, than that the others got it wrong.
Interviewer: So after this fine win, what’s next for you?
Wendy: I will take part in next year’s Aural Mental again and want to be in the top 10. I also want to be 1st in Mental and 1st in Abacus.
I believe I could have done better for the Mental paper. I had 1 question wrong out of 12, because I was rushing. But I realized later that I had more time.
I also want to progress to the Dan levels for both Mental and Abacus. I think I can achieve Mental Dan by end of this year, then Abacus Dan in Sec 1 or 2.
Interviewer: Sounds like wonderful goals you have set for yourself. Any last words of advice from the reigning Aural Mental champion?
Wendy: Practise hard. Have a plan for practising, don’ t just go through the motion, don’t do it because parents or teachers ask you to do it. Do it because you want to learn and improve yourself.

CMA is the most incredible thing that happened to me. Initially, I had doubts about joining as my son
is not very good with classes and teachers. It takes a lot to engage him. My son is 5 years old and
has anger management issues. Before I signed him up, I told the teachers in the centre that my
worry is not so much about the behavior in class but even whether I can get him to attend class in the
first place. However I was surprised that he sailed through the trial class and agreed to sign up for
the first 10 lessons package. He told me he liked the teachers and I was very pleasantly surprised as
he is really picky about teachers!
Weeks went by and he had no issue with completing the homework at home and attending classes
and staying focused in class. One day, he fell into one of his anger management stances and I left
him there to finish throwing his tantrum. To my greatest surprise, something happened that I would
never have imagined in my entire life. He stopped crying, walked over to his CMA bag, and took out
some homework to do. And that actually calmed him down!!! I was so amazed when I saw this
happening. He completed a few sums before calming down totally.
CMA has really benefited my son in a way I would never have expected. He still looks forward to
class every week now and I still feel very happy every time I peep into class and see how engaged
and focused he is. Thank you CMA for helping us beyond arithmetic skills!

Samuel Lee

Start Date : 9/1/2018

Hi, my name is Samuel Lee; I am 14 years old this year. I joined CMA since I was K2. My journey with CMA is not always smooth sailing but I must say it is a fruitful and rewarding experience.
As I progress to higher grades, greater expectation and demands are inevitable. Sometimes, I feel like throwing in the towel but I did not. Throughout my years in CMA, it has taught me invaluable values such as perseverance and resilience. These have developed me into the person I am today – someone that would not give in or give up easily when faced with challenges.
I have learnt that tough time doesn’t last but tough people do.
With CMA’s effective and systematic teaching methodology, together with a team of committed, patient, responsible and well-trained teachers like Teacher Agnes. I am blessed and have gained much.
The obvious improvement that I have noticed is my memory capability, information retention ability and concentration span.
I was able to focus better during my school lessons and examination revisions. My grades have improved for some subjects from D to B & A.

I have seen tremendous improvement in her everyday life.
Memory – I sang along with my daughter a new song for just a few times, it was a Buddhism song
which I find it hard for me to recite and remember the song. To my surprise, my daughter was able to
remember each individual lyrics and able to sing it out by herself.
Calculation – As she progresses, I find she can even challenge mental calculation with my niece
while in a long bus journey. In a way, it becomes an entertainment to coax a kid in a long bus journey
instead of playing on the mobile.
Confidence – She is a confidence girl who will help her teachers to teach the weaker student in
school. All teachers quote her as a good assistance in school.

Janis Chan Shi Qi

Intermediate Level :
Abacus (Grade 12);

Ethan Wong

My grades have improved for some subjects from D to B & A.

testimonial-profile-14

Very interesting and useful in calculation. Trainer very patient and friendly to guide us while we face difficulty in doing the exercise. And the homework really touch to beginner and need to complete it using a lot of time at home. Last but not least, the training is good and interesting. And thank you to the trainer for being patient towards the slower learners that need more time to understand how to use the abacus. Thanks.

Having had the chance to attend the two-day training course, I have gained a further appreciation for the art of arithmetic. CMA places great importance on cultivating a welcoming, positive environment while instilling in their students to always do their best and strive for accuracy. The teachers at CMA constantly seek to increase the interest and efficiency of their students’ learning by collectively taking in the feedback given and making amendments to it. In whole, the program was a good mixture of fun and learning. The food provided was delectable as well! Most importantly, I would like to thank my trainer Teacher Cheng for showing me patience and determination. Her guidance has really provided me an insight on how dedicated the teachers are and the countless of intricate steps that it takes to teach a class seamlessly. This has in turn motivated me to work harder and aim to be a great teacher in the future as well!

Firstly, I would like to thanks Teacher Cheng for the guidance throughout the training course. Teacher Cheng is a very patient teacher when she is teaching the abacus formulas and explaining the details of the books that we are providing for the students. Teacher Cheng also very considerate for allowing me to have my lunch break as she understands I leave my house earlier to travel there and will get hungry although the schedule is quite packed. I feel the training course could be longer so that we can have more time to master a topic before going to another new topic. Teacher Cheng is a very good trainer and I would recommend her to other teachers who needs to undergo training.

First thanks for Teacher Oon teaching us so well! She is very patient and helpful! Really a good teacher! Second, the Teacher Wu from Bishan Centre and Teacher Wendy from Tampines Centre, they two both give me deep impressions! Teacher Wendy, her voice really nice, just like professional DJ. And she is very humble to learn new things! Teacher Wu, she is very new in Singapore, but she is eager to make progress! I can see that, she tries her best to learn the new things in CMA. I admire her courage very much! Third, I’ve been in CMA long long time about five years! Now it’s my first time to be HQ. Here, everyone, every teacher is so kind to me. The HQ environment gave me new impression. When I stop inside, I can feel so comfortable. And, sometime, I also can hear happy smiling/laughing. I really like the happy environment. Fourth, only two days of training. I still learn something different, something new, know about CMA systematically very well. Lastly, please give me a chance to thank Teacher Oon again!

Overall, it was a very great training. I learned much about CMA and its philosophy, teaching methods and abacus techniques. The trainers were very professional and imparted to us not only knowledge but their own experience in teaching students. I learned how to guide students in an effective way. On top of that, the food was really nice! And the people were really friendly.
