“My child, Vivienne first started CMA lessons when she was 4 years old. Before that, Vivienne had attended abacus class in another education centre for a year but her learning progress was very slow. Then we decided to send her to CMA. Surprisingly, Vivienne learns a lot of things within two months in CMA.

She learns the abacus formula when she is just the third month with CMA, followed by multiplication. Just within a few months, she can do 1 digit 10 numbers.

We can see her improvement in CMA. I believe that all efforts go to CMA and her teachers. After class, Teacher Soh will spend time to discuss Vivienne’s learning progress with me. The reward card system given by CMA has enhanced the interest of students to learn abacus. Vivienne is one of them. The holiday programme and excursion organized by CMA also allow Vivienne to learn and play in educational activities. She likes to attend abacus class because the lesson is interesting and fun.

We also noticed that Vivienne has a great improvement in her piano class after joining CMA. When I asked Vivienne, “How do you like CMA?” and she replied “Fun and Happy, I love CMA”.

Thank you for creating a good learning environment for young children. The CMA staff and teachers are friendly and kind. Thank you again for your hard work. We truly appreciate it. ”

Sincerely,
Mr and Mrs Chin, parents of Vivienne (5 years old)

“Dylan joined CMA in August 2012. I am glad that I did not hesitate any further then and enrolled him in the programme. With CMA’s systematic training programme and learning materials, he is able to do mental calculations fast and accurately. It also builds up his confidence in arithmetic and he has developed a keen interest in Mathematics, He enjoys his lessons and looks forward to attending his weekly classes. His enthusiasm rubs off on his younger brother who has joined CMA recently.

We would like to thank the teachers, especially Teacher Jenny, who have guided Dylan patiently and encouraged him whenever he met with difficulties in his work, allowing him to progress to the next level. They have also helped him lay a strong foundation which helped him greatly in his school work. He has also learnt to be more disciplined and focused when that he achieved third prize in both Abacus and Mental Arithmetic. Thank you CMA for giving Dylan an enriching learning experience.”

“My daughter, Joann Teh has been with CMA since March 2011. We got worried as she had problem even in doing simple addition and subtraction. At that time, she already in K2 and will be going to Primary 1 the following year. We chance upon CMA and decided to put her for a trial at CMA.

Surprisingly, she enjoyed the trial and we enrolled her there and then. She fully enjoyed her classes at CMA till today. It had actually exceeded the initial goal that we had. We only wanted her to be able to do “+” and “-”. But today, she achieved far more than that!!!! She could do all the 4 operations with ease and ever ready to be our walking calculator!!!

We are glad that we have found and decided to give it a try with CMA. Their teachers are all very friendly and helpful. They seem to know all the names of their students. They have made the class lively and enjoyable as I see all the kids coming out from the classes happy and smiling. We would like to take this opportunity to say a very Big Thank you to Teacher Ong and all other teachers who have taught or helped Joann during her time at CMA. As the saying “We need two hands to clap” With Joann’s passion in mental and abacus calculation, and also with the help of your dedicated and patient teachers, she had attained the Dan Level in Mental Arithmetic. We will and have been recommending our friends whose kids have difficulty in calculation to CMA.

Once again, we would like to say THANK YOU, CMA!!!!”

Sincerely,
Mr Bryan and Mdm Evelyn, parents of Joann Teh (8 years old)
“Both Ze Chan & Yu Hann started their CMA lessons around 4+ years old. They have enjoyed and benefited from their lessons tremendously from the time they started till to date. Ze Chan is now in Primary 2...."

Mr and Mrs. Chek, Parent of Chek Ze Chan (10 years old) & Chek Yu Hann (7 years old)

“Both Ze Chan & Yu Hann started their CMA lessons around 4+ years old. They have enjoyed and benefited from their lessons tremendously from the time they started till to date. Ze Chan is now in Primary 2. He has attended CMA lessons for more than 3 years. His favourite subject in school is Math and he has doone well in it thus far.. We think that thhs is largely due to his strong interest in the subject which has been cultivated from attending CMA classes. He always looks forward to his CMA lessons. CMA has taught him to be very focused on his work and as a result, he is usually able to complete his CMA homework and school work as well as other tasks in a short time. Ze Chan has developed good mental skills during his time with CMA. This has enabled him to work fast while yet generally able to achieve accuracy in whatever he does at the same time. He loves to engage in challenges and is constantly seeking out difficult math questions to solve.

Yu Hann turns 5 this year. She has attended CMA lessons for about a year. Like her brother, she enjoys her CMA classes and doing her CMA homework. We have seen huge improvements in her calculation abilities ever since she started CMA. From single-digit finger counting, within months, she has progressed to being able to add or subtract mentally sums involving two-digit numbers. While she still has some way to go, we noticed that she has gained confidence in tackling addition and subtraction problems. Further, her concentration has improved since she joined CMA. We think this has helped to enhance her literacy skills where she is able to learn new words easier and faster than before.

We strongly believe that Ze Chan and Yu Hann will continue to thrive under CMA, and will recommend CMA to our friends and relatives. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to their CMA teachers: Teacher Agnes, Teacher Yang and Teacher Apple, for their dedication and patience in coaching our children. Thank you very much, you truly are the best!”

Sincerely,
Mr and Mrs. Chek, Parent of Chek Ze Chan (10 years old) & Chek Yu Hann (7 years old)

“My son Jagan loves numbers and CMA gave me the opportunity to further enhance it by enrolling him to learn the two-hand abacus system when he was in K1 (Year 2010). It has improved his numerical memory, cognitive reasoning and lateral thinking. Learning mental Arithmetic has boosted his confience and focus.

Almost two years continuously, Jagan has been the 1st prize winner for the Monthly Online Practice which conducted internally by the centre.

CMA has given him a good on-stage competition experience. He has participated in CMA Mental Arithmetic National Olympiad since 2011. Jagan has won the 1st prize trophy in 2011 (Grade 12 in Abacus category) and 1st prize trophy in 2014 (Grade 5 in Abacus Arithmetic & Grade 4 in Mental Arithmetic). He also won a Gold Medal and Top 10 scorer in National Online-Practice Competition.

Jagan has achieved Mental Arithmetic Dan-Level 3 in July 2013 and he is looking forward to complete the Abacus grades.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Teacher Ong for her support. She has taught him all the techniques, methods and also trained him to perform quick and accurate mental arithmetic calculations. We sincerely appreciate and thankful for all her hard work and effort.

Thank you CMA! .”

“My son Rohan Singh enrolled for Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Program offered by CMA in Aug 2010. In May 2014, he completed Mental Arithmetic Dan Level and Abacus Grade 4. He received Dan badge, 8 Trophies, 2 medals in M.A and Abacus. He succeeded to receive 2nd/3rd prizes and top 10 ranking in online practice three years in row.

The program enormously enhanced his number memorization power and metal calculation skills. He is capable to perform swift Mental / Abacus addition, subtraction, multiplication and division operations up to 5 digits. We now seldom use calculator to do most of the calculations at home while Rohan is around, as he now acts as our calculator!!!

During the course he got many opportunities to sit for various competitions at center and at the national level. These events further prepared him to compete with a large pool of talents at national level in early stage of his academic career. CMA enabled my son for higher levels in advance and boosted his self-confidence by taking part in major events such as Olympiad.

I heartily appreciate Teacher Ong’s productive efforts with Rohan during these many years. Rohan achieved the Dan level only due to her continuous support, guidance to him and timely feedbacks to us. While being friendly and approachable Teacher Ong patiently helped him in clearing his doubts and sometimes ours as well. We would like to thanks Teacher Ong in providing her continuous guidance to Rohan during his full course.

In CMA, teachers encourage and inspire students by applying various methods like giving prizes, parties, gift vouchers and inspirational comments. These techniques are very much helpful in improving their performance in class assignments and homework. By seeing my son progress in CMA some of my friends also enrolled their children in CMA.”

Sincerely,
Mr Deepak Kumar and Mdm Anita Kumar, parents of Rohan Singh (9 years old)

“Being a new parent to Xu Xian, my first child, I have no idea nor any expectation of him but i wanted him to have some pre-primary education. Two years ago, I stumbled on a CMA advertisement that caught my attention, and decided to give it a try.

In the beginning, I was skeptical. There were difficulties in learning all the formulas, however my wife and I decided that we should persevere and observe our son’s progress further. To our delight, he began to like ‘numbers’ and enjoyed doing his homework diligently. After 2 years in CMA, his learning ability grew tremendously as he could quickly pick up any learning in a short period of time compared to his peers.

Later, I also enrolled my second daughter when she was at an even younger age. We saw unexpected aptitude from her after she started attending CMA. I truly agree that CMA indeed helps in brain development.

CMA, U have got the “POWER”. Thank You CMA! .”

Mr and Mrs Dai, parents of Dai Zhuo Yang (7 years old) & Dai Yu Yang (5 years old)

“Zhuo Yang was enrolled with CMA when he was 3.5 years old. We had no high expectation of our child and preferred that our son could learn at a slower pace taking one lesson per week.

After being with CMA for 3 years, one day in April 2013, we were astonished when Teacher Ma told us that Zhuo Yang had been selected for Olympiad 2013 competition in Grade 3 Mental and Grade 6 Abacus. After some understanding from the teacher, we realised that the questions to both of these grades required presenting skills on multiple digits multiplication and division. We wondered if our son is able to make it to the competition. Well, the trophies proved Zhuo Yang's capabilities and his brilliant performance during the competition.

Our younger son, Yu Yang enrolled to CMA in mid of year 2012 when he was 4 years old. Ever since then, he enjoys his lessons all the time. ”

“My older son, Marcus, joined the CMA programme in 2008 when he was 5 years old. He was a K1 student who loved counting numbers. My impression of mental arithmetic was that it equates to mathematics and it correlates to counting at a fast speed."

Phyllis Lui – Parents of Marcus, 9 years old, Martin, 6 years old

My older son, Marcus, joined the CMA programme in 2008 when he was 5 years old. He was a K1 student who loved counting numbers. My impression of mental arithmetic was that it equates to mathematics and it correlates to counting at a fast speed. The skills Marcus acquired became evident quickly. At that time, we merely thought of CMA as a place where Marcus could have some fun learning what he loved -- numbers.

Today, Marcus is already 9 years old, a primary 4 pupil.

As he grew, his interests expanded to include other enrichment programmes. He has performed well in all of them, even though he isdividing his time and attention between several programmes simultaneously.

Marcus impressed many with his musical talent. He has attained certifications for piano practical and theory examinations grade 3 when he was in primary 2. In primary 3, he passed piano practical and theory examinations grade 5. He scored 94/100 for both theory papers. That was no mean feat for a young boy at his age! Now, he is practicing for his piano practical examination grade 6 in end 2013. In January this year, he was also selected to join his school's strings ensemble to play the cello.

On the academic aspect, Marcus has consistently achieved stellar results for all subjects. In particular, he achieved an A* for all his math tests and examinations from primary 1 till today! His mental arithmetic skill has clearly given him a distinctive advantage and natural abilities to understand questions, think logically, analyse solutions as well as calculate answers quickly and accurately.I gladly accepted the offer when my younger son, Martin, was offered a place to join the pioneer batch of CMA's Kindy Programme in 2010. He was a little over 3 years old and caused us much anxiety as he was a late bloomer. At 3 years old, he was still incoherent in his speech. He was not focused and absolutely did not like learning numbers. No matter how much we corrected him, he was still counting "nineteen, twenty, twenty-eleven, twenty-twelve, twenty-thirteen.".

Although the CMA programme has obviously benefited Marcus, we were skeptical that it could do the same for Martin whom we assumed did not like crunching numbers. However, Martin grew leaps and bounds in CMA in barely 3 years. His amazing development and achievements far surpassed our expectations. That taught us avaluable lesson - never ever underestimate what a child can do!In 2012, Martin passed the examinations for mental arithmetic grade 2, abacus arithmetic grade 7 and aural mental arithmetic 3 digits 4 numbers. The greatest confidence booster came from his unexpected win at the 5th CMA National Olympiad in June 2012. His hull of 1st Prize, Grade 9 for abacus arithmetic and 3rd Prize, Grade 7 for mental arithmetic was a testament that even a late bloomer can excel and emerge as a champion in CMA's programme.

At age 4, Martin was assessed to have strong fingers with good coordination before his enrolment in piano lessons. I believe that the fingering skills and strengths were attributes gained from working on the two-hand, four-fingersabacus technique in CMA. Today, at age 6, Martin has progressed to practicing for his piano practical examination grade 2 in September 2013.Academically, Martin started attending primary one this year. A few days into school, he was selected as the class captain. His maturity, confidence, eloquence and a good sense of direction have enabled him to understand instructions, performed tasks assigned as well as led his classmates from place to place. Experience gained from attending classroom style lessons, taking examinations and participating in a large-scale competition have allayed any fears Martin had about facing a new school, stricter rules, unfamiliar environment and strange faces. Psychologically, he was well prepared for formal schooling.

Both Marcus and Martin started learning taekwondo in March 2012 and they have attained their yellow belts in just 8 months. With their superb memory, they are able to remember all the steps required for grading tests with great ease. These two boys with different characteristics, interests and pace of development started their foray into a world of learning from extreme ends. Now, they appear to be converging towards one single point in their quest for excellence - happy, intelligent, learning and successful children. I started to wonder was there a common factorthat triggered and empowered theirsmooth sailing flight paths. After much deliberation, it dawned on me that the CMA programme, both boys' first enrichment programme, had a tremendous and positive impact on the development of their brains! Besides the mental arithmetic skills acquired, the essence of the programme was brain development - the power to think, analyse, memorise and focus! In short, they have acquired the mental capacity, will power and discipline to absorb and process information. CMA is not just about numbers, counting and speed!

I regard the CMA programmeas the foundation set for the boys' subsequent learning journey and growth. It does not encompass just one aspect of learning, say, a particular subject, language or interest. The CMA programme provided the main platform where they learnt to build on their strengths, overcome their inadequacies, nurture their potentials and confidently drive themselves forward as they pursuit tougher challenges and higher education in time to come. These are life skills much needed fortheir self-management and lifelong learning. When Marcus first started his classes in CMA, Yishun, I received regular updates on his progress from his teachers. I witnessed how his teachers constantly encouraged him to spur him on. There was a lot of humanity and personal touch as the teachers bonded and identified with every single child whose unique progress was closely monitored.

Months later, I stumbled upon the fact that one of the teachers was not just an ordinary teacher. He was actually Mr Tay Shy Ching, CEO of CMA Singapore! His humility and sincerity struck me even till today. My impression of him is that of an encouraging and professional educator who has so much passion in teaching. He loves the students and truly believes in the benefits that the CMA programme has on them. He was, and still is, an educator at heart. With Teacher Tay helming CMA, the support of a team of dedicated teachers and a brood of happy learners, it is not surprising that CMA has earned many accolades and well-deserved recognition.

CMA, thank you for creating 2 greats minds in Marcus and Martin! They left their little footprints in CMA while you left a deeper imprint in them - you truly made a life changing difference! - Phyllis Lui

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Teacher Cheng. She is a patient and caring teacher… Her professionalism has enhanced both my kids' understanding throughout the course… I must also highlight that all the staff and instructors are excellent…"

Mr Tan Chai Guan, father of Yixuan and Zhixuan

"I have enrolled Yixuan into CMA since Mar 08 and Zhixuan only commenced in Jan 09. Since then, they have been coping and progressing well in their CMA work. Apart from their weekly homework, I also realised they have built up their confidence in relation to numbers and are more disciplined and focused when doing their homework at home. I'm glad to see these improvements on them. Kudos to CMA!

Apart from the above, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Teacher Cheng. She is a patient and caring teacher who is able to guide Yixuan and Zhixuan in their CMA work by making the subject simple and by giving many illustrations in class. Her professionalism has enhanced both my kids' understanding throughout the course. More importantly, she is able to relate to us the progress of my kids and of course the area of improvements. I must also highlight that all the staff and instructors are excellent. With their vast experiences and good quality services, I certainly believe that my children would be more than happy to continue to stay at CMA."

From Mr Tan Chai Guan 19 April 2009
"My daughters enjoyed their lessons and they looked forward to attending classes. I could see smiles on their faces and faces of the other children… My daughters have never been so enthusiastic and zealous in their quest for learning and mathematics… I strongly believe that it is this loving, caring and..."

Mrs Agnes Ting, mother of Allison and Alyssa

"I was first introduced to CMA Mental Arithmetic by a close friend in year 2006. I was told of how good the teaching methods and teachers were, however I was skeptical of how effective the methods really were. Seeing no particular advantage, and there being no need at that time, I did not enroll my children for classes.

Things took a turn when my eldest daughter entered Primary 1. She struggled with her mathematics for the first few months because she was poor at mental sums. I knew I had to do something to improve her mathematics or things would only get worse. Recalling what I was told about CMA, I decided to enrol not only her, but also my 5-year-old daughter for classes.

My daughters enjoyed their lessons and they looked forward to attending classes. I could see smiles on their faces and faces of the other children. In barely three months, my older daughter, Allison, escalated in her progress of mental calculation. She could calculate with such speed and accuracy that I've never thought she could achieve. Her results in school improved tremendously. She no longer finds Mathematic a chore, but enjoys the subject and calculates with ease and confidence. I was also very impressed at how my younger daughter, Alyssa, could perform mental calculations at such a young age. My daughters have never been so enthusiastic and zealous in their quest for learning and mathematics.

Teaching methods are only part of the reason that CMA has worked well for my children. The teachers played a big role in nurturing them as well. I first met Mr Tay in March 2007 during our introductory session, and was amazed at his zeal and passion in teaching and nurturing the children. Chen Lao Shi and other teachers also made an impression on me with their commitment and love for the children. I strongly believe that it is this loving, caring and passionate team of teachers who have been critical to the success of CMA.

Seeing the levels of competence which my 2 elder children have attained with the help of CMA, I look forward to enrolling my 2 younger boys in the coming years.

Thank you CMA!"

Yours truly,
Mrs Agnes Ting

"It has been a wonderful thing to have my daughter, Charis, enrolled in CMA’s abacus course… Through attending the course, her level of zeal has been charged up. This is due mainly to the fact that she has very dedicated teachers..."

Mdm Irene Koh, mother of Charis Chen

"It has been a wonderful thing to have my daughter, Charis, enrolled in CMA's abacus course.

Ever since Charis signed up for the abacus course, she has enjoyed every session of the lesson. Yet, being an active child, she is able to sit and focus on doing her abacus homework. This course has enabled her to concentrate well in doing her other subjects. I recalled a few times when she was very late for her lessons, she insisted enthusiastically on going for the lesson even if it's for half an hour instead of the usual one-and-a-half hour. She would excitedly tell me, 'Mummy, it's better to be late than never!'

Charis likes doing mental calculations. On many occasions when we were taking cabs, she would automatically count the charges incurred and help me pay the cab drivers the amount and collect the change given by the drivers. She would also assist me in calculating the amount of groceries that I purchased at the supermarkets, restaurants, and other stuff. Her ability to calculate figures at a short span of time really amazes me!

Through attending the course, her level of zeal has been charged up. This is due mainly to the fact that she has very dedicated teachers… Mr Tay and Teacher Chen. They have been such wonderful teachers to her. Their passion and desire to impart their time wholeheartedly in ensuring that the students' potential are fully realised. CMA has a team of committed teachers.

• Comitted to the higher call of teaching • Mindful of the needs of different students • A spire to bring out the potential of all CMA students • In short, CMA… HEY HEY NI ZHEN BANG! (in hanyu pinyin)

With deep appreciation
Mdm Irene Koh, mother of Charis Chen
"Rachel is also able to grasp new concepts easily and master her other classroom subjects such as languages. With her consistent work, she had obtained the 1st position in the Primary 1 level of her school (Greendale Primary School) last year… CMA provides very good training to young children and believes all children will benefit from the programme."

Ms Tan SC, mother of Rachel Goh Ling Shan

"I would like to express my most sincere appreciation for grooming my daughter, Rachel Goh Ling Shan throughout her 2.5 years training in abacus and mental arithmetic.
